Nesbitt Storms through Top Dragster Field at Piedmont
May 13, 2009 – Julian, NC
What more can be said about the season start for the 2008 Quick Rod World Champion, Brett Nesbitt. Nesbitt, who makes his living as a professional sportsman engine builder at Nesbitt Performance Engines, is undefeated so far in IHRA National Event competition. At the 2009 IHRA Spring Nationals, he pulled off the coveted “double” by winning in both Quick Rod and Top Dragster, a difficult feat that has only been accomplished by an elite few. As if that wasn’t spectacular enough, Nesbitt also scored a runner-up spot in the Summit All-Star’s Top Dragster shootout. “I couldn’t be here without the support of my customers. It’s not just about my cars when I get to the track, it’s about all of them as well. Needless to say, we were more than pleased with the outcome at Rockingham”, stated Nesbitt.
Not only has the 34 year old North Carolina native been on a tear in the Nitro Jam series, but has enjoyed even greater success on the Summit Pro-Am tour. Nesbitt has been in the final round at every single Division 9 race so far in 2009 in either Quick Rod or Top Dragster, only falling short for the runner-up spot on one occasion to Nesbitt Performance Engines customer, Danny Waters, Jr. Nesbitt’s latest triumph took place at his home track, Piedmont Dragway, which is only a mere 10 miles or so from his home. “I feel like I drove pretty good all day. I think I was .020 at the tree only one round, and all of my other reaction times were .010 or better. I can’t say enough about the Piedmont and IHRA personnel that came together to dry the track so we could complete this race. Both of my cars were deadly all weekend, and that always helps” Nesbitt said.
As the month of May reaches it’s mid point, Nesbitt has now compiled an astonishing four wins (two in Top Dragster, two in Quick Rod) and two runners-up (one in each Top Dragster and Quick Rod). What can one say but WOW! Many of his NPE customers have also enjoyed winning success early in 2009 and Nesbitt couldn’t be more satisfied, “We put tons of hours and work into our engines. There is no better feeling than being able to watch one of my customers run well and win. Our slogan says it all: Fast, Durable and Consistent. This holds true to my winning combination as well”, stated a humble but proud Nesbitt.
Nesbitt would like to thank the supporters of his teams efforts: Nesbitt Performance Engines ( www.nesbittperformance.com ), Race Tech Race Cars, Hoosier Racing Tire, APD Fuel delivery systems, Callies Crankshafts, Diamond Pistons, CV Products, T&D, Dart Machinery, Moroso Performance, Pro-Filer, Rick Johnson at Nickels Performance, GT Racing Heads, Danny Waters Jr. and Cody Griffin.
